Absolutely do educate yourself to the best of your ability. If you can’t go to college, read books. If you do go to college, read books. Education doesn’t have to stop and you are better off if it doesn’t. Libraries are great sources of educating yourself.
Avoid tabloid and news media. All they want to do is scare you and dumb you down. Avoid thinking about politics like a spectator sport. It’s not your team vs theirs, the more you think it is the worse off you are.
Make yourself valuable to others. Try to learn a skill that isn’t common and that other people value highly. If you do this, you have a lot better chance of having the kind of life that you want to live.
If you can get yourself into a job with a career track without going to college, consider skipping college. Most jobs only care about employment history anyway and it sucks to try to pay back $50,000 plus interest. If you are able to go this route, you will want to read books about your profession on the side for free from the library and stuff. It is worth it to spend some time to learn how to excel at your job.
